Internet Reasources

I envision using a variety of Internet resources in my unit plan. Such as:

Internet Search Engines

It can help my students become involved in their work. They can be allowed to access a educational search engine so that they can find out valuable information such as when accomplishing a KWL charts. In which it will also promote inquiry based learning since the children will look for what they “want to know” rather than what they “need to know.”

Internet Research

It can help students learn more about a specific topic and again in utilizes inquiry based learning. The student is to look for the information on their own.

Tagging/Book marking

Tagging helps to specify what you need; therefore it makes searching a lot easier. Book marking is essential because it helps save important websites. If facilitates the students search on their topic.

E-mail

E-mail is a key factor in our lives now a day because it is an essential part of our communication. Especially between teachers and school administrators. Its also useful to communicate with the students parents.

Instant Messaging (IM)

Is another important form of communication in our lifestyle and many of the students are familiar with this tool. I even believe that in the high schools IM can be used to contact a teacher after hours or parents with teacher.

Surveys/Opinion Polls

Surveys are a good tool for children because it can help them learn more about each other. For example my unit theme is culture; my children can survey their classmates. That way they could see how much their peers know about their culture.

Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP)

I believe this learning tool is good for teachers to use as a resource. In which they can communicate with other teachers and hopefully share ideas and lessons that can be used in their classrooms.

Blogs

Can help students post about all the new things they are learning and their knowledge growth.

Wikis

Helps students interact with each other and with teacher

Overall their are tons of technology tools out there, all we have to do is use them in a creative manner with our students.Because children learn the best when they enjoy the lesson because it gives them meaning to what their learning.

2 cents worth

On the website by David Warlick on his main blog called 2 cents worth
is a very interesting and resourceful. The blogs about how some teachers
have used technology in their classrooms. He also give us insight of what
other educational technology schools are opening. He even answers some
questions of fellow teachers in helping combine education and technology.
I would definitively use technology in my future classroom because it
helps children learn in a more attracting way. Especially for those children
that learn visually it helps stimulate them so that they can achieve their
greatest potential.

Yarid Glz culture-kinder

My take on inquiry based learning is that the children will always want to know more about their culture. They will be self motivated to learn about other cultures and traditions. It will allow them to ask questions and obtain the knowledge for their curiosity's. As for project based learning it will be a fundamental part of my unit because with kindergartens they learn a lot through their peers and having them work together in a group enhances that quality. That is how i hope to incorporate inquiry based learning and project based learning into my unit plan.
Essential Question: Why am I Unique?

I choose this question because i know lots of children wonder about why
we are all different and I sure it has been a question of many people as
they move to new countries or they visit them . I choose this essential
question because it’s very broad and it helps me incorporate many
activities. I also believe it is a question that is always asked and one
that people often wonder about. I am always intrigued to find out about
other countries and how they are different from us.

Unit questions:
1. What is culture?
2. How are my traditions similar to my classmates?
3. How does my culture affect my everyday life?

My unit question are develop in a way that children can answer them and
create their own perspective on how each of them is unique and how it
makes them stand out in this world. My unit questions follow the belief
of blooms taxonomy in which they are phrased in a way that will make the
children use their higher-level of thinking skills. It will help them go
through the stages from knowledge to evaluation. Especially on
kindergarten children who question everything and try analyzing it
because they don’t understand. At that age they are discovering the
world and always ask what and why are you are doing whatever it is they
are seeing you do. Many of the children’s I believe are linguistic and
musical learners because at this age they are very verbal and teaching
them through a song is a way of them remembering and learning it.
